Temperatures have plummeted in the south of England and our local pond has frozen. This is a shocking development for us ‘southern softies’, as my husband (from the north of England) likes to call us. Georgie and Jessie think it’s very exciting and had lots of fun this morning.
They met a new friend – Mutley, a nine-month old Jack Russell/Daschund cross.

Christmas Day started with a group dog walk – and mince pies in the carpark

“What are all these dogs doing in my pond?”

I love my present . . .

but Christmas really is exhausting!

Sweet dreams Georgie – rabbits? rolling in the long grass? apple and cheese?
Do we even know whether dogs dream?

What’s a dog’s favourite instrument?
Why the trom-bone of course
Here’s my husband, Mark, a jazz trombonist, and this is a typical scene when he practises. Whether he’s doing long notes, high notes, fast playing or slow, Georgie still likes to sit in front of him and get her tummy tickled! And Mark likes having an audience – so it’s win – win
We have a fine selection of dog jokes on our site as well as dog jokes especially for kids if you fancy popping by.
Severe weather in south-east England . . . heavy rain . . . high winds . . . wet dogs . . . wet dog owner . . . and so nice to get home

Quietly minding my own business, coming home from a day visiting my Mum, I heard carol singing in Brighton Station. And the carol singers had their dogs with them. And I had my camera with me
So everything was perfect!
They were raising money for the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), a registered charity receiving no lottery or state aid. Its £82 million annual running costs are funded exclusively by voluntary donations and legacies.
Here’s Purdey and Rosie the Shih Tzus, and Lucy the Labradoodle (we think). All three lovely dogs found new homes thanks to the RSPCA.

Let’s hope they made lots of money.

I rarely take a ball out on a walk as it’s often more trouble than it’s worth. However invariably we find one.
This picture was taken about five minutes into this morning’s walk and as you can see, Georgie had today’s lucky find – a dirty, squidgy, half-eaten tennis ball. And Jessie looks very jealous!

Mark and I do get to sit on it sometimes!
Five photos from this morning’s trip to the pond.

This morning, after days of dull, misty weather, we enjoyed a sunny one. I took Georgie and Jessie to the pond and they found treasure! A wonderfully flat football – perfect for diving in after and carrying back to the car.
Georgie is a wader – she goes in the pond for a quick drink and a check on the insects.
Jessie however needs a purpose to get wet. And if something is thrown in the water, she’ll jump wholeheartedly after it – whatever the temperature (and this morning it was very cold!)
