We’re all looking on with happiness at the exciting events in the United States. Hello to all our American friends and congratulations on Barack Obama becoming President.

This is a poem sent to me by my father-in-law, Michael Bassey, who has a gorgeous Golden Retriever called Hector.
Hector has just reached eleven and this is a poem he wrote for him.

Hector’s now
Eleven years old;
Muzzle grey
But coat still gold.
Cavorts in the wood
With a glint in his eye.
Surely ‘tis real
The camera can’t lie.
Or is it the dog
Who is the deceiver?
‘Tis a trait not unknown
In a golden retriever.
